We win together. That’s a core belief for us here at Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, and one we actively work to support and measure with our Total Associate Engagement commitment.
Cultivating a strong, healthy, mutually beneficial relationship between our company and our people helps us to create superior value for our customers and shareholders. It also supports inclusion and helps to retain associates, a key driver for the sustainability of our business.
To ensure we are continuously improving, we measure associate engagement annually. In 2021, 73% of associates took part in our Total Associate Engagement survey and we’re aiming for 80% participation by 2024.
The survey asks associates to agree or disagree with a series of statements such as, “I am proud to work for this company,” “I would recommend this company as a great place to work,” “I rarely think about looking for a new job” and “I am satisfied with Zurn Elkay as a place to work.”
We calculate engagement by averaging the percentage of associates who agree with the survey statements. Over the past five years, we’ve seen a more than 30% increase in Total Associate Engagement, from 58% in 2016 to 76% in 2021.
Other efforts to encourage engagement include award programs for special performance bonuses, paid volunteer time, competitive benefits and our efforts to promote from within. In 2021, 136 associates were promoted – more than 10% of our associate base.
