We have always been committed to doing business the right way. In fact, demonstrating integrity in everything we do is one of our core values at Zurn Elkay Water Solutions.
We bring this value to life with processes, systems and governance structures that support our ongoing commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) leadership.
An everyday focus for associates
It starts with our associates, the heart of our organization. As part of our Compliance and Ethics Program, every year our associates are trained on our Code of Business Conduct & Ethics. The Code clarifies our expectations for associates and guides their decision-making around a comprehensive array of topics, from conflicts of interest to employment practices.
Plus, we continue to look for ways to enhance understanding of these important commitments, for example introducing new training in 2021: Overcoming Unconscious Bias in the Workplace and Leading Diversity.
Governance dedicated to responsibility
Our corporate governance structures likewise are dedicated to embedding responsibility for ESG leadership into every aspect of our operations. Our Board of Directors includes an ESG Committee that oversees all our ESG-related efforts, including initiatives, plans, policies and performance.
At the organizational level, we commit to responsible business practices as a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which articulates responsible business practices across ESG efforts. All Ten Principles of the UNGC are reflected in our ESG commitments and pillars of focus.
Requirements for suppliers
Just as we hold ourselves to high standards, we recognize that Zurn Elkay suppliers extend our influence in the world far beyond our direct operations. Our Supplier Code of Conduct helps us ensure that our external partners operate in ways that are consistent with our sustainably inspired ethos. It spells out our policies and expectations for suppliers related to legal compliance, ethics and integrity, diversity, conflict minerals, human rights and respect for the environment.
As part of our Supplier Quality and Development Program, we have introduced the use of supplier surveys and contractual reviews designed to identify negative environmental or social impacts, both actual and potential, and we are engaging with suppliers on sustainability initiatives. All top suppliers must sign this Code annually, and all long-term contracts are contingent on compliance.
Policies that guide us
Our ESG policies are designed to be a guide for associates at all levels as we keep working together to ensure integrity in everything we do. They cover a wide range of topics from business conduct and ethics to product safety and quality to diversity and inclusion.
